Meet you in the street, Carlisle!

Vic Park Community Centre

We're out on the streets of Carlisle today to launch our newest project, Street Teams Carlisle, in collaboration with Chorus. And we can't wait to meet and get to know you!

A Street Team is a small network of households that connect, support each other and make our neighbourhood better. That means you do what you want on your street.

Being your local Community Centre, we are thrilled to facilitate projects in Carlisle.

Street Teams was initiated by Chorus and launched in March in Bullcreek. It was the peak of Covid crisis in WA, and people in Bullcreek accepted the invitation to get to know who lives near by, keep in regular touch and look out for those who needed extra help during the pandemic.

With Covid restrictions lifted, there is less of a sense of urgency in fighting the virus, but the crisis has shown how important community connections are.

It has refreshed our collective memory about how good life in community can be - when a neighbour drops by to check if all is well, brings a casserole or some herbs from the garden.

Street Teams Carlisle wants to encourage that reconnection.

The Vic Park Community Centre is here to kickstart the conversation, and will support Carlislians who want to meet each other, do cool things together, share skills, build common resources.

First up, we will extend the invitation to every household in Carlisle to join. You can expect a flyer in your letterbox in the next week or so. The next step is simple: sign up and get ready to meet your neighbours!

We have great support from Chorus, the offices of Ben Wyatt MLA and Kate Doust MLC. They all look great in the picture, but the key ingredient are Carlisian themselves!

See you on the street soon!
