Manager (mat leave) 

Part-time, 25 hours a week 

Late Jan/Early Feb 2025 – early Nov 2025

About the Organisation 

Vic Park Community Centre is a little place with a big heart, a neighbourhood hub where people can collaborate, imagine and thrive. It is located next to Macmillan Park and offers a regular program of activities for all ages as well as spaces for hire to host your own events. 

The Centre holds: a weekly multicultural playgroup, local initiatives, creative workshops, kids after school clubs in music-maths-languages and more - a range of life wide education sessions such as parenting seminars, sustainability at home and mental health training. Cultural meals, dance classes and a variety of diverse meet ups, and social groups - supporting a caring and connected community. 

We are a proud, thirty-year-old organisation with a uniquely creative slant. The staff, board and volunteers have a broad range experience across social impact, education, the arts, participatory culture, community organising and youth work. As a not for profit, all our income is reinvested in the running of the Centre and our consistent fundraising allows us to offer special programs such as Noongar Language After School and STEM club.  

 

About the Role 

This role is responsible for the direction, operations and compliance of the organisation. It is supported by a voluntary board of management and 4 key staff roles including: a Community Development Coordinator, Admin and Facilities Officer, Bookkeeper and a Centre Cleaner.

The Manager drives the ethos and strategic vision of VPCC through intentional programming and partnership development, engagement with community and key stakeholders, maintaining and seeking sustainable funding streams and keeping on top of legislation and compliance through reporting and guidance from our peak body Linkwest. 

The position is dynamic, challenging and fulfilling offering opportunities for invention, collaboration and purpose-driven work within a context which is established, energetic and constantly evolving. 

 

Requirements of the Role

Essential experience: 

  • People management 

  • Organisational leadership 

  • Financial management 

  • Grant and tender research, writing and management 

  • Project management 

  • Knowledge of Asset Based Community Development approaches and methods for grassroots community engagement/building 

  • Knowledge of access and inclusion practices and protocols 

 

Desirable: 

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, SpacetoCo, Xero, META platforms, Canva and Humanitix 

  • Experience with sponsorship, philanthropy and alternative fundraising

Mural Artist

We are seeking a mural artist to develop a site specific artwork in conversation with some key community groups at VPCC that is bold, surprising and inclusive!

Overview

Vic Park Community Centre (VPCC) is a 30 year old not for profit committed to fostering a caring and connected neighbourhood by creating opportunities for people to collaborate, imagine and thrive.

 

We operate a space for hire and host an eclectic program of regular activity and one off events which includes: social support, emergency relief, collective learning, cultural exchange, creative adventure and more. 

This artwork aims to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which VPCC is based, Whadjuk Noongar Boodja AND celebrate the awesome kaleidoscopic rainbow that is our community's differences.

 

The artist will creatively engage with three of our regular groups to inform, influence and shape their ideas. Noongar Language After School with Kalyakoorl (ages 6-13), Conversational English (open to any adults learning English) and the LGBTQIA+ Advocacy & Arts group (ages 16-24).

EOI close: midnight: 18 Dec 2024

Artist selected/notified: 15 Jan 2025

Engage and consult: February

Paint and install: March

Completion event: early April (will feature during Town of Vic Park’s Arts Season 10th Anniversary 2025)
